Emma Rafuse Sets 6K School Record In Third Place Finish At MSU

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Thanks to a time of 20:44.5, Purdue Fort Wayne women's cross country's Emma Rafuse set a new 6K school record on Friday (Sept. 14) afternoon at the Auto Owners/Playmakers Spartan Invitational.
Rafuse took third, missing second by less than a second and first by less than five seconds. Erin McDonald (20:39.6) and Maggie Farrell (20:43.9) of Michigan State bested Rafuse. Michigan State is No. 15 in the Cross Country Coaches' Association poll.
As a team, the 'Dons took eighth with a score of 225. Michigan State (22) won the race.
Hannah Aschliman finished 46th with a personal record of 23:29.4. Rebecca Sippel turned in a time of 23:40.5 for 54th.
Sophia Hirzel took 79th (24:12.4) while Caitlyn Kiekhaefer crossed in 148th (25:49.6) to round out the 'Dons finishing in the points.
Purdue Fort Wayne returns to the course on Sept. 28th at 4 p.m. at Notre Dame's Joe Piane Invitational.
