Women's Cross Country Competed Strong at Notre Dame

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's cross country team ran a 5K at the Joe Piane Invitational hosted by Notre Dame on Friday (Oct. 4). The Mastodons beat future Horizon League for, Green Bay.
Kathy Potter finished first for the Mastodons with a time of 19:00.20 for a 127th placement. Behind Potter was Sophia Hirzel in 151th place at 19:21.56. Makaila Groves (157th, 19:27.77), Kenzie Smith (178th, 20:31.81), Elana Kayser (184th, 21:09.03) and Lauren Morales (193rd, 23:14.81) were also included in the team score.
Five out of the six runners had a PR at the Joe Piane Invitational: Potter, Groves, Smith, Kayser and Morales.
Purdue Fort Wayne finished in 24th with 734 points. The overall winner was Cal State Fullerton with 131 points.
Up next for the 'Dons is the Evansville Invitational on October 19 at Evansville. This will be the last before the Mastodons compete at their last Summit League Championship meet.
