Mastodons Finish Seventh at Summit League Championships

FARGO, N.D. - Purdue Fort Wayne women's cross country finished seventh overall at the program's final Summit League Championships Presented by U.S. Air Force Special Warfare 6K in Fargo, N.D. on Saturday (Nov. 2).
Freshman Kathy Potter led the way for the Mastodons in her first-ever collegiate conference championship. Potter finished in 37th place with a PR of 23:31.3. Sophia Hirzel came in behind Potter in 40th and a time of 23:48.4.
Makaila Groves (45th, 24:11.6), Elana Kayser (60th, 25:25.6), Kenzie Smith (61st, 25:27.5) and Lauren Morales (67th, 28:57.1) rounded out the Mastodons times. Groves, Kayser, Smith and Morales all recorded career-best times for the 6K.
Purdue Fort Wayne finished in seventh with 209 points. North Dakota State took home the overall title with 45 points. Kelby Anderson from North Dakota State was the individual winner and had a time of 20:35.1.
The women's cross country team will be at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional hosted by Wisconsin on November 15. The Mastodons will compete in a 6K at 12:30 p.m. ET at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Course in Madison, Wisconsin.
