Three Program Records Set for Men's Track and Field at Indiana Tech Meet

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Purdue Fort Wayne men's track and field set three new program records fall at the Strive for Greatness Invitational hosted by crosstown foe Indiana Tech on Saturday (Dec. 14) at the Turnstone Center.
Nick Derickson ran past his own record in the 600m run with a time of 1:27.99 and a seventh-place finish, six seconds faster than his previous record. Luke Beehler also broke his record in the long jump with a new mark of 6.71m and an eighth-place overall finish. Both 'Dons set the previous school records at the Mastodon Opener last weekend (Dec. 7).
Conner Bayne set the school record in the 1000m run, coming in with a 2:44.96. Weston Miser came in fifth (2:45.39) and Andrew Whitinger was sixth (2:45.48) in the same event.
Lane Hawkins (6th) and Cain Hohne (8th) competed in the high jump event and finished with a mark of 1.88m. Weston Miser finished in fifth in the 800m run with a time of 2:03.01. Andrew Whitinger (7th, 2:04.96) and Conner Bayne (8th, 2:05.20) rounded out for the Mastodons in the top 10.
Purdue Fort Wayne will take a break and return to action on January 18th at home with the Mastodon Invitational. The meet will serve as Senior Day for Alex Barton, Robert Peck and Austin Rockstroh.
