Women’s Cross Country Takes Fourth In Season Opener At Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's cross country team concluded the Mel Brodt Collegiate Opener at Bowling Green State University on Aug. 30 with Makaila Groves and Sophia Hirzel as a strong front duo.

The freshman Groves finished her first collegiate cross country meet with a time of 19:53.6 and landed the 25th spot. Hirzel came in shortly after with a time of 19:58.6 and in the 27th spot.

Kathy Potter (29th, 20:39.6), Elana Kayser (32nd, 21:41.0), McKenzie Smith (34th, 24:08.2) and Lauren Morales (35th, 25:35.9) rounded out the Mastodons at Bowling Green.

The 'Dons finished the day in fourth with 102 points. Buffalo landed the top spot with 29 points.

Purdue Fort Wayne returns with Rumble in the Fort hosted at Purdue Fort Wayne on Friday, September 13 starting at 3 p.m.
