AS CRUCES, N.M. – The Purdue Fort Wayne baseball team and their offense averaging more than seven runs per game heads to New Mexico State for a non-league series this weekend.

Scouting the Mastodons (3-4): The 'Dons picked up 30 hits in the series at Miami last weekend with nine different players recording hits. As a team the 'Dons put together a .273 batting average for the weekend. Dylan Stewart is hitting .400 on the year with a home run and five walks. He has a .591 OBP. Jack Lang is hitting .385 on the year. Stewart and Lang rank one and two in the league in hitting, respectively.
Scouting the Aggies (8-1): New Mexico State swept a four game series against Iona last week. Nick Gonzales hit .531 on the series with nine hits including three home runs and nine RBIs for the Aggies. The Aggies suffered their first loss this week in a non-league game against Arizona State. They fell to ths Sun Devils 6-5 in 10 innings.
Series History: New Mexico State leads the all-time series 4-0 with all four games coming in a series played in the Land of Enchantment in 2011.
Sam Beckett Would Approve: This will be the third time in program history the 'Dons play on Leap Day. The 'Dons won 4-3 at Valparaiso in 2004 and fell 12-2 against Georgia State in 2008.
Nationally Speaking: In the nation the 'Dons rank: 26th in doubles with 17, 43rd in batting average with a .289 clip and 69th in hits with 70.
