Five-Run Ninth Ties It; But ‘Dons Fall 10-9 At NMSU

The 'Dons entered the eighth down 9-2. They scored two in the inning to make it a 9-4 game. The top of the ninth saw the 'Dons record seven singles. Dylan Stewart, Aaron Chapman, Jack Lang and Garett Lake each singled with two outs to keep the game alive. Lake's single scored Chapman and Stewart to tie the game at nine.
NMSU won the contest two batters into the ninth with a hit by pitch and a triple by Tommy Tabak.
The 'Dons out-hit the Aggies 13-10. Lake, Mohler, Lawvere and Lucas Kolovitz each recorded two hits. Dylan Stewart led the 'Dons with three hits.
Justin Miller went 5.0 innings. He gave up four earned runs with six strikeouts. He received a no-decision. Andrew Lawvere, who started the game as the designated hitter, tossed a scoreless eighth before suffering the loss in the ninth. Lawvere is 0-1. Alex Reyes, who gave up five runs in the ninth for NMSU, got the win. He is now 2-1.
The 'Dons fall to 3-8 while NMSU is now 12-1. Purdue Fort Wayne is next in action on Friday (March 6) against Richmond.
