Track and Field Begins Outdoor Season at Margaret Simmons Invite

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne track and field program travels to Murray, Kentucky for the Margaret Simmons Invite on Friday (March 26) and Saturday (March 27). Events will begin on Friday at 12 p.m. with the 100 meter hurdles in the women's heptathlon.

Back at it Again
The Mastodons are returning to the outdoor track and field season after the abrupt halt last season. This will be the first time since 2003 that the men's track and field team will compete in an outdoor season. The women's track and field team has not competed outdoors since May 25, 2019 when Emma Rafuse participated in the NCAA East Preliminary in the 5K.
Last Time Out
Purdue Fort Wayne earned sixth place (31 points) overall on the men's side and tied for fifth place (42 points) overall on the women's side at the 2021 Horizon League Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Lutheran Health Fieldhouse. As a program, the 'Dons had seven podium finishes, one men's and six women's.

The 'Dons will head to Western Kentucky University for the Hilltopper Relays in Bowling Green, Kentucky on Friday (April 2) and Saturday (April 3). Friday's events will begin at 1 p.m. with the women's pole vault and Saturday will start at 9 a.m. with the women's discus.
