'Dons Come up Short in 4-2 Loss to UIC

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – UIC edged Purdue Fort Wayne 4-2 on Saturday (April 30) afternoon in the middle game of a three-game Horizon League baseball series.
The Mastodons got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the bottom the first inning. Jack Lang came across to score on a sacrifice fly by Cade Fitzpatrick.
It stayed 1-0 until the third when a Bryan Rosario single knocked in a run for UIC to make the score 1-1. The Flames added two more in the fifth and one in the sixth to go up 4-1.
Ben Higgins knocked in Jarrett Bickel to make it a 4-2 game in the eighth to get the 'Dons within two.
The ninth saw the 'Dons put two runners on, but come up short trying to tie it up.
Jacob Myer is now 2-5 after suffering the loss on the mound. He gave up four runs in 5.2 innings and struck out six. Rex Stills was impressive out of the pen. He threw a scoreless 3.1 innings while allowing three hits, walking one and striking out three.
