'Dons and Jaguars Set for 50th Softball Meeting

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne and IUPUI softball teams will meet for the 50th, 51st and 52nd times in program history this weekend when the Mastodons visit Indianapolis.

Know Your Foe
IUPUI is 7-24, 5-4 in the Horizon League. The Jaguars' two non-league wins came over Tennessee State and Miami (Ohio) on February 18-19. After that, IUPUI had a 17-game losing streak that bled into league play. The Jags have righted the ship a bit, having won five of their last six Horizon League games. IUPUI has a two-headed monster leading the way offensively in Kendal Calvert and Rachael Gregory, who both hit over .300. Madison Bryant is leading the team from the circle. She has been the pitcher of record in all 17 games she's played, with a 4-13 record and a 2.98 ERA.
Anniversary Game
Saturday's game will be exactly 20 years from the first game that IUPUI and Purdue Fort Wayne played in 2002. IUPUI won that game 7-3 in Fort Wayne.

The Mastodons own a 27-22 edge in the all-time series which dates back to 2002, the Mastodons' first season as a Division I program. The 'Dons have won 13 of the 20 games played in Indianapolis, but have not played a game there since 2016.
