
'Dons Drop Two at Murray State to Open 2024

MURRAY, Ky. - Jacob Walker had a home run in game two on Sunday (Feb. 18) during Purdue Fort Wayne's doubleheader at Murray State. The Mastodons fell in both games.
Game One - Murray State 11, Mastodons 1
Camden Karczewski had a hit, a walk and a run for the Mastodons in game one. Caileb Johnson drove in Karczewski in the sixth with a bases loaded single to make it a 6-1 game.
Justin Osterhouse walked twice in the game. Karczewski and Nick Sutherlin each recorded their first career NCAA Division I hit in the contest. Mac Ayres took the loss for the 'Dons. He is 0-1 after 3.1 innings of work.
Cade Vernon is 1-0 for the Racers after going 5.2 innings. Alex Elsing picked up the save after 3.1 innings of work. Drew Vogel and Tylor Howell each had three hits in the game for Murray State.
Game Two - Murray State 17, Mastodons 2
Walker hit the Mastodons' first home run of the season. It was a two-run shot in the sixth scoring freshman Grant Sawa who had just walked. Sawa recorded his first career hit in the third inning.
Murray State opened the game up with a seven-run second inning. Jonathan Hogar scored four times in the contest for Murray State. Bryce Valero got the win for the Racers, tossing five innings. Brody Fine took the loss.
The 'Dons and Racers will play the third and final game of the series on Monday (Feb. 19).
