'Dons Take Eight of Top-10 Spots In Mastodon Alumni Open

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Purdue Fort Wayne women's cross country took first at the Mastodon Alumni Open on Friday (Sept. 20) evening with Riley Tate taking home first place in the race.
Tate won with a time of 22:10.2, leading the pack by 15 seconds. Ava Genovese crossed the finish line next with a time of 22:25.4. Lydia Carrell earned third in the meet with a time of 22:33.6. Haylee Hile (22:48.1) and Faith Allen (22:58.1) rounded out the Mastodons' top-five with a pair of personal records. Hile earned fourth and Allen finished sixth.
Faith Norris set a personal record in her first collegiate home meet, with a time of 23:21.6 that earned her seventh. Kynzlei Bassett took eighth (23:25.8) in her first home meet as a Mastodon. Mercedes Sarver finished ninth with a time of 23:53.1.
Freshman Amanda Williams ran a personal best 24:43.3 in her first home collegiate meet, earning her 22nd. Bella Hodges finished 24th (25:07.5). Haley Sponaugle placed 27th (25:43.0) in her first home collegiate meet.
Purdue Fort Wayne took first in the Mastodon Alumni Open with 16 points. Trine finished second (60), and St. Francis finished third (62).
Purdue Fort Wayne runs next at the Joe Piane Invitational on October 4th.
