Evansville, IN - The Evansville Purple Aces flexed its offensive muscles on Sunday afternoon to the tune of 14 runs and 15 hits, running away with the series finale by a 14-6 final score.

Will Faulkner was 3-for-3 for the Mastodons, while Kurt Dudley was 2-for-3, and Kristian Gayday 2-for-4 with a team-high three RBI's.

Evansville wasted little time in taking a 2-0 lead in the bottom half of the first inning before the 'Dons answered back with two runs of their own when Gayday chased home both Cody Galbraith and Kurt Dudley with a single through the left side, knotting the score at two runs apiece.

IPFW took its first and only lead of the day in the top of the fourth inning when Gayday once again drove in Galbraith with an RBI single, giving the visitors a 3-2 lead. That lead would be short-lived, however, as the Aces scored twice in the bottom half of the inning to re-take the lead at 4-3.

The feisty Mastodon squad would not back down, and once again tied the score after an RBI double off the bat of Faulkner that scored Garrett Segraves.

Evansville scored once in the bottom of the fifth, and then busted the game open with a five-run sixth inning, followed by one run in the seventh and three more in the eighth. The Mastodons came back with two runs in the top of the eighth inning on a Galbraith fielder's choice and a Dudley triple, but the seven-run deficit was too much to overcome.

Samuel Walker picks up the loss on the mound, pitching into the fifth inning, striking out a pair and giving up six hits and five earned runs. Matt Ransbottom, A.J. Risedorph, Cory Bluhm, and Steve Danielak all came in relief in the losing effort.

The Mastodons look to regroup Tuesday as the squad travels to Chicago, Illinois to face off against the Chicago State Cougars, before hosting Oakland University over the weekend in the Summit League opening series for both teams.
