Mastodons Win Thursday Match over Valparaiso 5-2

Final Results
VALPARAISO, Ind. – The IPFW men's tennis team won the doubles point and then defeated Valparaiso in four of the six singles matches to earn a 5-2 win over the Crusaders on Thursday afternoon. With the win, IPFW is now 8-15 overall heading into the weekend.
“This was a good performance by the whole team,” Brett Barnett explained. “We know we are going to have to fight for every match this weekend. The guys are ready and fired up to win and qualify for the conference championships.”
Connor Andrews and Martin Muadi recorded the first win of the day for IPFW as the tandem defeated Baum and Oakes 8-3 in No. 2 Doubles. The Crusaders would even the playing field with a win in No. 3 Doubles, but Daniel Kang and Joao Freitas put the Mastodons up 1-0 with an 8-6 victory in No. 1 Doubles.
Valparaiso won the first singles match of the day at the No. 2 spot, but Andres Cobos quickly got IPFW on the board with a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 3 Singles.
Two more IPFW wins followed as Gerard Guell and Freitas earned wins at No. 6 and No. 4 Singles to help IPFW win the match. Guell won 6-2, 6-3 and Freitas grabbed a 6-4, 6-3 win.
The final Mastodon to win on Thursday was Muadi who defeated his opponent in No. 5 Singles 6-4, 7-5.
