ROSEMONT, Ill. - The Fort Wayne softball team kicks off the 2018 season when the Mastodons compete in the three-day Total Control Sports Invitational.

SCOUTING THE MASTODONS
Fort Wayne heads into the Total Control Sports Invitational under the leadership of fourth-year head coach Germaine Fairchild. The Mastodons returns nine players from a season ago, including All-Summit League Second Team selection Lauren Watson.
The 'Dons returns seven starters from last, which includes primary starting pitcher Bailey Benefiel. The team is led by five seniors in Benefiel, Courtney Holm, Amber Davis, Jenna Balthazor and Demitra Burns. The roster also includes returning starters Sydney Windlan, Maria Palmegiani and Brooke Imel. Palmegiani spent the summer playing for the Canadian Junior National Team.
The roster will feature nine new players, including two transfers and seven true freshmen.
