Jonas Morris Breaks School Record at Liberty

LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Purdue Fort Wayne men's track & field team competed in the second day of action (Jan. 24) at the Brant Tolsma Invitational (Jan. 23-25), with Jonas Morris breaking a school record to start competition for the Mastodons.
Morris ran a personal record time of 21.56 to set the new Purdue Fort Wayne record in the 200 meter dash. This time earned him third in the meet as the only 'Don to compete in the event. This time beat out Ezra Lewellen's time of 21.74, set last season.
The only other Mastodons to compete today were seen in the weight throw. Senior Zyler Johnson threw 16.21 meters in the event, earning fourth overall. Owen Kaufman placed 10th with a throw of 14.68 meters. Freshman Josiah Bird finished 17th with a mark of 13.97 meters.
Jaylin Springer, Michael Drohosky, Andrew Roman Lewellen, Morris, Bird and Johnson will compete on Saturday (Jan. 25) for the last day of the meet.
