Zyler Johnson and DMR Squad Finish Second at #HLTF Championships

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne men's track & field team sits in third place (30.5 points) at the Horizon League Indoor Championships after day one (March 1). The Mastodons are hosting the event at the Lutheran Health Fieldhouse.
Senior Zyler Johnson threw a school record weight throw mark of 17.02 meters, earning him weight throw runner-up. Owen Kaufman also took the podium in the event, finishing eighth (15.72 meters).
The distance medley relay squad of Harrison Niswander, Kobe Milledge, Boden Genovese and Nicholas Mills finished off day one by taking DMR runner-up. Their time of 10:06.41 was less than a second behind first place.
Andrew Roman used a mark of 4.50 meters to earn a spot on the podium to take fourth in the pole vault.
Austin Hall ran a 14:33.70 in the 5000 meters to place fourth in the event.
Freshman Damien Keys finished fifth in his first league championship, leaping for 6.94 meters in the long jump.
Brothers Jonas Morris and Noah Morris qualified for both the 200 meter dash and 400 meter dash. Jonas Morris had the quickest 400 meter dash preliminary time (49.72) and third-fastest in the 200 meter dash (22.05). Noah Morris finished third in the 400 meter dash (50.17) and fourth in the 200 meter dash (22.12).
Ezra Lewellen finished with the second-fastest 60 meter dash time (6.76) in the preliminary round.
Cainen Northington also qualified for the 400 meter dash, finishing in 51.71 for eighth.
Youngstown State leads after day one (83 points).
Nathan Mills, Andrew Arnos, Jarred Neff, Colten Gasson, Michael Drohosky, Logan Teichman, Brevin Miller and Josiah Bird will also compete in day two of the Horizon League Indoor Championships.
